



For this assignment, I was tasked with developing a non-cliché restaurant concept—one that pushed beyond expected motifs and created space for authentic cultural storytelling. Rice Above is a modern Filipino restaurant brand rooted in pride, resilience, and identity.
The identity embraces color, texture, and type in a loud, joyful way—echoing the vibrancy of Filipino culture without reducing it to stereotypes. A central visual element is the repeating pattern used across collateral, inspired by traditional Filipino tribal tattoos and reimagined in bold, contemporary color palettes to reflect strength, heritage, and modernity.
From takeout packaging to interior walls, every design touchpoint was an opportunity to uplift the narrative—“Rice from the ashes,” “Together we rice”—offering a brand experience that feels powerful, personal, and unapologetically Filipino.
